“Here’s How You Can Quickly and Easily Become the Great Chess Player You always Dreamed of Without Great Expense or Extraordinary Time!”

Dear Friend,

I’m just assuming that you’re passionate about chess. Millions are, so if you’re not, don’t worry about hurting my feelings by deciding not to read the rest of this letter.
You see, I’m in possession of something that is solid gold as far as dedicated lovers of the game of chess are concerned.

Before Boris Spasky and Bobby Fisher, there was I.A Horowitz, (who actually preferred to be called Al). Al Horowitz is considered the great American Genius of chess. From 1933 to 1969 he published Chess Review Magazine. For twenty years he wrote three chess columns a week for The New York Times.

But what we’re concerned about here is the landmark books that Al Horowitz wrote. Horowitz died at the age of 65 in 1973. Before that, fortunately, he wrote chess books that were read by millions. More than anyone else, Al Horowitz is the man who taught citizens in the 20th century how to play chess.

In fact, you could easily fill a 1000-page book simply with the testimonials of people who would claim they learned the game from Al Horowitz.

One of the books he wrote is called How to Win in the Chess Openings. I have purchased the rights to publish this book and for the first time, I am going make it available through the internet.

What does this mean to you?

Well, suppose that with one keystroke of your computer, you could gain the secret to overpowering and winning chess.

Imagine intimidating your opponents into disarray and leaving their techniques in shambles. Think of sitting at any chessboard against any opponent, knowing you have the secret of victory.

Normally these kinds of extraordinary promises would solicit a well-deserved tsunami of skepticism. But the chess books of I.A Horowitz are hardly ordinary.

How good a player was Horowitz?

Horowitz was US Open Champion in 1936, 1938 and 1943. He played on the US Team in four World Chess Olympiads – 1931, 1935, 1937 and 1950. The US Team won the Olympiads in 1931, 1935 and 1937 with overwhelming scores.

The 1950 Olympiad was a watershed moment for the game. In that year, the Soviets shocked the US by wining 13 of twenty matches with five draws. Horowitz scored one of the only two wins for the US by defeating Grandmaster Salo Flohr

Al Horowitz was a brilliant player who published amazing books that changed the way chess was played in the last half of the 20th century.

For practically no effort and very little money, the most classic book ever written by this man can now be yours.

How to Win in the Chess Openings will elevate your chess game higher than you ever imagined. That’s not an idle boast as the world is filled with countless chess lovers who have read the book and found their game dramatically improved.

How to Win in the Chess Openings is hardly a new work by an unpublished, unproven author. It’s an historically acclaimed treatment, universally acknowledged as one of the most significant works on the game of chess ever produced.

Think about it. Being virtually unbeatable on the chessboard could be the one thing that lifts your self-esteem and makes people look at you differently. Like a winner. You’ve spent thousands of hours playing and trying to learn the game. For years, you’ve fantasized about acquiring the shield of invincibility, of discovering the secrets of the greatest chess players on the planet.

Of course, dreaming about it is one thing – becoming a chess superstar is another…

You could buy any of the thousands of books on chess and spend pretty well the rest of your life applying the suggestions and strategies from those books. That could cost you a small fortune and then you’d be pretty well as good as all the others who had bought and studied the same books. So how good would that be?

So don’t max your credit card and bury yourself in a dark room for several years trying to absorb all the information on the market. The quantum improvement in your chess game will happen right after you arm yourself with

How to Win in the Chess Openings by Al Horowitz.

At last! The chess weapon you always needed is here.

But don’t take my word for it, here’s what customers from all over the world are saying about this unique chess book:

”I can’t believe how long I have played this game without realizing the powerful basics I discovered in this book.” Roger V., Pharmacologist, Miami Beach

“The guys I play against couldn’t figure out what was different. Just one week after reading How to Win in the Chess Openings I was bullying them around the board!” Colin G., Encino, California

“Not only did I become a much better chess player, but I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Horowitz really knew the game and now, thanks to him, so do I.” Estelle W. Seattle, Washington

“Imagine how much it would cost to hire a Chess Master to tutor you in the game. Well, that’s exactly what I did when I bought How to Win in the Chess Openings!” Sven M., Copenhagen

To give you a glimpse about the mastery of this book

I let you read his foreword:

Foreword
THE first game of chess was recorded about five hundred years ago and since then, no less than twenty thousand chess books, written in dozens of languages, have appeared in print. To be sure, every phase of the game has been considered.

So why should I be so excited about another book?

I’ll tell you why, but first let me ask you – have you ever heard of The Butterfly Effect? It’s the theory that a butterfly flapping its wings on one side of the world can cause a tornado on the other. Well, even if you don’t quite believe that the twitch of an insect in one place can create disaster thousands of miles away, I’m sure you’ll agree with this:

A powerful beginning to a chess game will lead to triumph.

So that brings me to my book, How to Win in the Chess Openings.

I have read countless works on chess openings and have come to realize that only one thing is clear – the argument over chess openings is mired in quiet confusion! The reader is required to memorize an opening, is occasionally told with an exclamation point or question mark that a move is good, bad or indifferent, and then is left hanging, as it were, in mid-air to reason for himself the whys and wherefores. What part each move plays in the strategic concept of the opening pattern is vaguely described or not mentioned at all.

That all changes when you read How to Win in the Chess Openings.

This book presents the study of chess openings in a logical, easy-to-understand man¬ner. I have taken pains to assure that it is not beyond the grasp of the player who has learned little more than the rules of chess.

To begin with, I have laid out in a clear and precise manner, the principles and concepts of opening play common to all openings. Then, in turn, I have broken down each of the most popular openings—attacks and de¬fences— to their individual moves and grand plans. I show how the tactical importance of each move is connected with the strategic idea. And for the benefit of all chess lovers, I have appended to each opening a classic, over-the-board example from actual play in "movie" style.

The term "chess movie," is no more than a chess game, recorded by a series of diagrams. The numerous diagrams make for clarity as well as ease of study. In this case, the "movie" makes the use of a chessboard and its men unnecessary, allowing the game to be followed from the text.

In closing, I wish to give a word of caution: gaining an advantage in the opening brings victory in the endgame. I must confess, however, that the title has given me some pangs of grief. What I really ought to call the book is "How to Undestand the Chess Openings." Most players, however, are not interested in understanding; they only want to win. Hence, the title.

With understanding will come many victories.
I. A. HOROWITZ
